In order to better protect citizens against online fraud, the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) is working with its partners on a joint methodology that will enable faster action to be taken against unreliable websites, thereby preventing new victims. As part of a new collaboration with the FPS Economy, this approach has already been applied to 30 websites, enabling almost 25,000 people to be warned in good time.

Despite growing awareness of cyber threats, recent research by the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) shows that Belgian companies are not making sufficient use of two-factor authentication (2FA) or multi-factor authentication (MFA) on external connections. While 70% of the organisations surveyed say they consider it somewhat to very likely that they will soon be targeted by cybercriminals, only 46.4% have actually implemented 2FA.

The Centre for Cyber Security Belgium (CCB) today announced the introduction of a compulsory cyber driving licence for all citizens seeking access to the internet. The measure is part of the new cyber strategy 2026-2030, which aims to Belgium one of the least vulnerable countries in Europe

Since the introduction of the NIS2 legislation last October, 2410 organizations from critical sectors have registered with the Center for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB). The largest ever cyber security operation in the country is currently underway. During this period, reports of cyber incidents increased by 80%.

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) wants to increase your online safety. Do as the more than 50,000 Belgians who use the free Safeonweb browser extension, a powerful tool to detect unsafe websites. 

In 2024, observant citizens forwarded more than 9 million messages to suspicious@safeonweb.be . In record year 2023, there were 10 million. On average in 2024, we received 25,900 messages per day.  We would like to sincerely thank all internet users who continue to do so! Together we are making the internet a safer place. 

The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) is hosting Hack the Government 2024, marking the first-ever ethical hacking event organised by the Belgian Federal Government. On Wednesday evening, 27 November, Alexander De Croo, Belgium’s Prime Minister will present the winner of the event with the coveted “Ethical Government Hacker of 2024” award.

Belgium is the first European member state to fully implement the new NIS2 legislation. These rules significantly strengthen the level of cyber security. An estimated at least 2,500 Belgian organisations are required from today to register on the website atwork.safeonweb.be and take security measures.  They thus hold the key to taking their cyber security to the next level.
