Ebola website for Belgian citizens and health professionals

Belgian citizens and health professionals can from now on consult www.info-ebola.be  for complete and up to date information on Ebola. This website is a joint initiative of the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp (ITM), the different health authorities and the Belgian Scientific Institute of Public Health (WIV-ISP).

Dr. Erika Vlieghe, Belgium’s national Ebola coordinator, said:  “Accurate information about Ebola is essential not only to help dispel myths but to ensure we are ready for the worst case scenario,  an Ebola patient in Belgium. With the www.info-ebola.be  website, Belgium now has its own space on the web, providing not only information about the latest developments in West Africa, but also about a possible Ebola case in Belgium.”

The website has up-to-date information about the West African epidemic and Ebola-related news for Belgium. It answers to a number of frequently asked questions and includes guidelines and procedures for GPs and other health professionals.

The site is based upon the extensive Ebola expertise of ITM, which carries out Ebola diagnostics in Belgium.  The different health authorities (FPS Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment, the Agency for Care and Health of the Flemish Community, the Common Community Commission of Brussels-Capital (COCOM), the Walloon Region, the German-speaking Community) and the Scientific Institute of Public Health all provide information, guidelines and measures to protect human health.

The www.info-ebola.be website is available in Dutch, French, English and German.
