5.0 billion EUR for the new 30-year Belgian OLO 98

On 15 February 2023, Belgium issued a new 30-year OLO with maturity date 22 June 2054. OLO 98 has an annual coupon of 3.30% and was issued at a price of 99.070%, bringing the annual cost to 3.349%.

The keen interest in the transaction and the high quality of the orders allowed 5.0 billion EUR to be placed with domestic and foreign investors.

New OLO 98 - Pricing

The 3.30% EUR 5 billion OLO98 benchmark issue, maturing 22 June 2054 for the Kingdom of Belgium (rated Aa3/AA/AA-; outlook all stable) is now priced.

Issue/Reoffer price 99.07, to yield 3.349%, equivalent to 8 bps above OLO95 (22 June 2053).

Payment date 22 February 2023. Short first coupon on 22 June 2023. Listing Brussels.

Belgian law. No XD, no NP. FM2 (with prior consultation with the issuer) applies.

Fees total 25 cts.

Belgian-German Joint Declaration on Bilateral Cooperation on the Transition to Sustainable Carbon Neutral Economies

Today, the Belgian-German Energy Summit took place in Zeebruges in the presence of Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Belgium and Germany signed a common declaration to strengthen and enhance their energy cooperation.

New OLO 2054

The Minister of Finance, Vincent Van Peteghem, announces :

The Kingdom of Belgium intends to issue a new syndicated EURO benchmark bond maturing 22/06/2054 (OLO 98) in the near future, subject to market conditions.

BNP Paribas Fortis, Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Nomura have been mandated as joint bookrunners.

All other Primary Dealers will be invited to the syndicate group.

The OLO auction scheduled for 20/02/2023 is cancelled.

Federal Government Debt at the end of January 2023

As of the end of January 2023, the federal government debt amounted to EUR 474.361 billion. This means that the debt increased by EUR 3.75 billion compared to December.

In net terms (after deducting placements and securities held in portfolio), the federal government debt increased by 923 million euros, to 461.246 billion euros.  

The net balance to be financed in January was EUR 923 million (to the detriment of the Treasury).
