Impact of Ukraine conflict on cyber threat in Belgium

Many companies and organisations are concerned about the ongoing tensions in Eastern Europe and are wondering how to protect themselves in the event of a cyber attack. The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) can reassure them to some extent: for the time being, there is no objective evidence of a concrete cyber threat to our country. However, a cyber attack with consequences for Belgian organisations can never be excluded.

Belgium and Norway sign energy cooperation: "Important step in forging North Sea coalition"

Today, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre signed a far-reaching energy cooperation agreement, enabling them to go full steam ahead for renewable energy. Belgium and Norway will cooperate in areas such as offshore wind, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. The Prime Ministers also discussed the situation in Ukraine and stressed the importance of Western unity.

BIPT and the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium warn of a plague of fraudulent telephone calls

Since the end of last week, 100,000 fraudulent telephone calls have been detected in our country. Behind calls from legitimate Belgian telephone numbers, other mostly foreign numbers turn out to be hidden, whereby these callers try to fraudulently obtain personal data from the called parties.

Prime Minister De Croo to speak at Munich Security Conference on European security on Sunday

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo will participate in the Munich Security Conference, the annual security conference in Munich, from 18 to 20 February. Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmès will accompany him. In light of the Ukrainian crisis, the Prime Minister will speak on the importance of strengthening Europe’s security architecture. The programme also includes a series of bilateral meetings.

The 1.40% EURO 5 billion OLO95 benchmark issue, maturing 22 June 2053 for the Kingdom of Belgium (rated Aa3/AA/AA-; outlook all stable) is now priced.

Issue/Reoffer price 99.399, to yield 1.424%, equivalent to 12 bps above OLO88 (Jun-2050).

Payment date 22 February 2022. Short first coupon on 22 June 2022. Listing Brussels.

Belgian law. No XD, no NP. FM2 (with prior consultation with the issuer) applies.

Fees total 25 cts.

New OLO 2053

The Minister of Finance, Vincent Van Peteghem, announces :

The Kingdom of Belgium intends to issue a new syndicated euro benchmark bond maturing 22/06/2053 (OLO 95) in the near future, subject to market conditions.

Barclays, BNP Paribas Fortis, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and Nomura have been mandated as joint bookrunners.

All other Primary Dealers will be invited to the syndicate group.

The OLO auction scheduled for 21/02/2022 is cancelled.
