As of the end of January 2024, the federal government debt amounted to EUR 507.898 billion. Federal government debt thus increased by EUR 2.51 billion since the end of 2023.

In net terms (after deducting placements and securities held in portfolio), the federal government debt decreased by EUR 1.59 billion to EUR 485.786 billion.

The net balance to be financed amounted to EUR -1.585 billion in January.

Brussels, 9 February 2024 - As part of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Minister for Social Integration and the Fight Against Poverty hosted a two-day conference entitled 'Towards zero homelessness, only 6 years to succeed'. The event, which took place on 8 and 9 February in Brussels, brought together representatives from Member States, experts and associations dedicated to the cause, all driven by a renewed commitment to a future without homelessness.

On 7 February 2024, Belgium issued a new 30-year OLO with maturity date 22 June 2055. OLO 101 has an annual coupon of 3.50% and was issued at a price of 99.938%, bringing the annual cost to 3.504%.

Issue/Reoffer price 99.938, to yield 3.504%, equivalent to 4 bps above OLO98 (22 June 2054).

The Kingdom of Belgium intends to issue a new syndicated EURO benchmark bond maturing 22/06/2055 (OLO 101) in the near future, subject to market conditions.

Barclays, BNP Paribas Fortis, Deutsche Bank, HSBC and Morgan Stanley have been mandated as joint bookrunners.
All other Primary Dealers will be invited to the syndicate group.

The OLO auction scheduled for 19/02/2024 is cancelled.
