The Belgian Debt Agency informs you that it has accepted bids of Treasury certificates for a total amount of EUR 1.263 billion, distributed into the following lines :

Brussels, 27.10.2016 – Madam X. was born male and underwent sex reassignment surgery in 1997. Since then she has gone through life as a woman without any problems, until she wanted to take out hospitalisation insurance. The insurance company only wanted to agree to taking out an insurance policy with her if there was a specific exclusion in the policy that related to her trans identity. The judge in the first instance ruled that this condition discriminates against transgender people.

Today, Belgium becomes a member of the Southern Ocean Research Partnership of the International Whaling Commission. This partnership of 12 countries conducts non-lethal whale research and counterbalances the position of Japan who continues whaling for a so-called scientific research. With its membership, Belgium aims to give a strong signal in favour of the protection of cetaceans and marine ecosystems.

The Belgian Debt Agency increases its target for OLO issuance in 2016 to EUR 36.50 billion and revises EMTN and Schuldscheine targets downwards to EUR 3.50 billion.

The Belgian Federal Government Debt amounted to EUR 406.23 billion as of 30 September 2016.
 
Debt issued or taken over by the federal government amounted to EUR 405.96 billion, and the institutions for which the federal government supports the debt service, registered a debt of EUR 0.27 billion.

In net terms (i.e. deducting financial deposits and investments, as well as securities owned by the Treasury), the Federal Government Debt amounted to EUR 395.86 billion.
